Because they offer maximum flexibility, most reloaders start their
collection of Bench Rest® dies with full length sizers. But, if
you're loading for the same firearm, it's not necessary to use the entire
capacity of your full length sizer each time you reload. A fire formed
case matches the chamber from which it was ejected and should only require
that the case be
partially sized to accurately align in your firearm's chamber. Simply
back off the full length sizer die counter-clockwise in the press so
the die is about 1/8 inch from the shell holder when the ram is at the
top of the stroke. Refer to the fine tuning instructions in your Bench
Rest® die set for more information about producing ammunition that
has a "glove fit" to your chamber. This procedure allows you
to use your full length sizer to partially resize your cases. After
approximately five to ten firings, the brass flow that has occurred
will again require full length resizing. Full length dies are available
in more than fifty calibers, either individually or as a set with one
of our Bench Rest® seater dies.
