Piloted Roughing Drill

Original price was: $200.00.Current price is: $160.00.

SKU: Categories: Chamber Reamers, Gunsmithing
Description

Our piloted roughing drill allows you to remove a lot of material from your barrel, fast, while keeping the cut concentric with the bore.  This is meant to help reduce wear and tear on your reamers and help save time without sacrificing accuracy. This works with standard Reamer Pilot Bushings, and comes with a retaining screw and washer.

Piloted Roughing Drill Instructions:

The best way to find the depth of cut using the piloted rough drill is by knowing how much unsupported case you will have from the chamber. Subtract that number from the base of the case and measure from that point to the body shoulder junction. (subtract another .050-.100” just to be safe you don’t want to over shoot that base shoulder junction as the drill is a .430” diameter you do not want to get that diameter past my shoulder neck junction)

For example in a custom Remington 700 action (impact action to be exact) we have a .150” counter bore for bolt nose clearance, subtract that from the base to shoulder neck junction measurement (example, on a creedmoor the base to shoulder/neck junction is roughly 1.490” a safe number would be subtract .250” this would give a depth of cut with the drill of 1.240”)  If you trust your measurements you can certainly get closer than this just don’t pass the neck shoulder junction and account for how much case stick out you have.

The depth of cut we are referencing from where the drill starts cutting not the end of the pilot.
